Indonesians:

When you are staying here for god's sake remember this is not a kampung. Penang is major city: do not walk in the centre of the roads, the up button on the elevator is for going up and the down button is for going down and finally do not drop your shit on the roads there are enough trash bin around.

We hate that goddamn haze your forest burning farming creates.

KL and other out of state people:

We don't like you and the way you drive. Do not drive on a fairly clear roads at 40km/h. FFS do not drive in the centre of a two lane road. Either one lane or the other, where do you think you are driving? In KL? Do not cut suddenly from one lane to another, we are in Penang there is not that much distance between cars especially during medium and heavy traffic you discourteous buggers. And use you damn indicators if you do want to make a quick switch.

Well watches it so here is a guide to the movies.

The Aliens:
Wear exo-suits to move.
Their suits are compartmentalised to prevent death, like a ship's hull.
They have a large area that stores one vital organ on the right side of the chest.
Their suits does not protect against 5.56mm rounds and possibly smaller bullets like .45 cal.
Their weapon system is a plasma projectile that has an extremely short range.
They prefer to fire from a high position of more range or may arch their shots.
Their fuel is probably hydrogen taken from the water but may burn both the hydrogen and oxygen to have some recycling of the fuel.
They are completely fuel in efficient as all their vehicles have thrusters of some sort.
They'll population count is very low which is why their invasion force numbers a few 1000 actual soldiers and a few 100 remote drones.
They'll technologically inferior to humans expect for space travel.
Their only technological edge in combat cell/radio triangulation and minor RF/EMP interference.
Aliens are terrible shots or plasma weapons are an area effect style weapon.
They are completely resource strapped hence the attack on Earth because of the large bodies of water. Otherwise going to Jupiter would have been easier since there is no hostile forces there and its a huge gas giant made of hydrogen.

The humans:
Huge armies of millions world wide.
US military has enough guided missiles to wipe out all Alien ships 1000 times over but didn't employ that tactic.
Marines apparently are not targeting centre mass despite their training and inside are aiming either at the arms or legs.
Largest area on the Alien soldiers is their head and chest which the marines fail to hit.
Dilly dallied on launching full air and navel strikes against air assets.
Losing their airbase Independence Day style.
Has absolutely has no co-ordination with Air Force and Marines.
Pilots and tank commanders appear to either have not passed their training or are fitted with highly inaccurate and ineffective vehicles.
Plasma projectiles can't kill with one hit but seems to be able to take out scores of Marines and tanks.
Marines relearn to hit centre mass again during the movie.
Orbital satellites completely not used for any military action.

The Sense of No Smell.

I caught the flu about more than a week ago. Which after a few days recovering from it my sense of smell was gone! I waited 4 days for it to return until I decided to do some net searching as to the cause of it. It was either a sinus infection or a flu virus. Best case my sense of smell should return in about a month. Worst case my nerves that are used to detect smells are damaged. Since my nose was totally dry. I mean totally dry as in no moisture at all I surf for remedies.

So not waiting for fate to play its hand I started rinsing my sinus with a saline solution of 1 tb of salt and 1 tb of baking soda. This got my sinus going again with pointing my nose to the ground my sinus began to drain. I snotted alot of luggies out finally and my sense of smell has returned slowly.

Now this is a quick post but let me tell exactly what happens when you do not have a sense of smell. Your tongue can only detect sour, sweet, bitter and salty flavours. It cannot detect the degree of intensity of those three flavours. That's right you can give a whole spoon of sugar and I can only tell it was sweet not how sweet. Your apparently plays a vital part in tasting all your food. As you chew the vapour of the food travel up the throat of your mouth into the back of the nose where it smells what you are chewing. Everything you put in your mouth is tasted by your nose. That is freaking incredible. So remember to love food you gotta love your nose.

BTW I was chewing and chomping whole chillies, seeds and all nonstop and I can tell I didn't feel any heat. Which means, you guessed it, your nose is in charge of telling just how spicy food is not your tongue. Sure my tongue tingled a bit but since the spicy oily vapours can't reach my nose's nerves it didn't bother me one bit.

Haven't posted in a while so I thought I whip this out. Since I had such a good time spotting all the technical mistakes in GI Joe like Storm Shadow walking past the hover ships gun at the north pole which you can see the 3D mesh of the gunpod.

By now almost all of the movie goers around the world have seen the new Star Trek. Some have come to realise that Prime Spock (the Spock from the original Star Trek reality) told the audience that traveling through time only takes you to a different timeline of an alternative reality. That said, Prime Spock may never return to his own time and reality unless Spock is able to calculate and execute re-entry into his reality exactly the same time he left at the exact same spot he ripped reality.

Of course Spock that is good enough reason for Spock to hang around the current reality he is in until he figures it out. Even helps out the new gang once in a while. And if you wondered did he really travel back in time.... no he didn't. The time which Neo enter that reality was present time for them. Prime Spock enter the timeline as it moved 25 years onwards. Did he enter the future of that reality? In a sense, no. Because if he tried travel back in time after enter that reality he would enter another one. Thus, never changing the past of that reality. Confusing isn't it?

Anyway, about the pebble I mention earlier. If Neo never enter that alternative reality and killed Kirk's father will Kirk be like Prime Kirk in all manner of ways? Will Spock be Spock? Who knows but as the saying goes, drop a pebble in a pond and it ripples reach far and wide. Does the ripples change the direction reeds growing in the pond by 1mm? Does it raise the water level high enough affect growth rates? Does it introduces foreign elements into it unknown algae?

The effects will never truly be known but rest assured the traumatic event of having the Kelvin destroyed by Neo as the first encounter of the Romulan race on the whole known Universe. Think of 9/11 and how it affect us all and continues to do so and you will understand why Kirk is Kirk but exactly like him. Why Spock is a raging ball of self confidence and decisive action. Why Scotty is a little more bonkers than he usually is. Why Chekov is now just as able in Maths as Spork. Why Sulu is more outgoing. And so on and so on. Heck, because of that event the Enterprise technology is even more advance that the original Prime Enterprise.

Everything effects everything. No matter how small it is. Maybe, that is what Star Trek is really trying to tell us?

So we had paintball yesterday and I was trying out my remote line again with my SP1 without the stock to see if I can shoot accurately. Let's just say... at 6th and 7th Dec I will be using the tank as a stock and maybe the remote line on my backup MR3 (2nd hand if I can get it).

So anyways, the game started out ok, we played a total of 4 rounds on 2000 pbs. Unfortunately, we got jacked on the price and had to pay RM350 instead of the normal RM250 or even RM300.

The first round I got knock out by a hit to my mask's cap. Naturally, I didn't feel it and the other player didn't indicate I was hit but he still got hit on the fore-arm on the exchange of fire. He was annoyed that I didn't 'want' to leave the field cause I was hit. Luckily, I didn't need to explain to him that hits on the cap of the mask won't be felt since another 'pro' player told him as he fumed off the field. I did walk out when he complained about it after he got hit from me.

2nd round Fang hit me on the finger as he was sand humping next to some tires and I was firing from over my head. Not painful, don't why people say getting hit in the hand hurts.

3rd round my mask was fogging bad as with another player. As I was watching fang flank my far left (I was behind the moon and star bunker) the same guy that I hit out the 1st round, rounds the corner of my bunker.

Now, let me go in greater detail what happened for the record. He 'over kill' me. He hit me on my right lower rib cage, right fore-arm (which bounced), 1 on my marker, twice in the right shoulder, 1 in the right shoulder, 1 in the right of my lens by then I managed to put my left arm up to protect my lens and it got hit (it start to bleed lightly but I took a high potency multi-vitamin in the morning since I only had 3 over hours of sleep so the bleeding stopped after 2 mins without treatment). This is from 1-2 feet away. He then said, "why the fuck did you shot me when you was out?" Well, asshole, I shot you so that you will stop shooting me at that range.

He then got in my face and try to pull off my mask. I mean WHAT THE FUCK? I can forgive the over kill cause he is a n00b and panicked but trying to pull off my mask while pointing his marker at me while we are still on the field with people playing and Fang trying to bunker me from behind. That I cannot forgive. So you better watch out.

The 4th round I decided I was pissed and moved up when Marco ask for support for himself and Pongs. I got to some concrete tubes, which was very little cover when Pongs got tagged. He dumped his remaining pbs in my marker and he walked away, Marco went dry and walk himself off the field.

Great, I got Fang on my left, Jason on my right and Luke in the centre of their base. Fang, try to rush me and I tagged his leg. Jason, tried to bunker me and ran out of ammo or so he thought (he had one pb left) and walk himself off. Luke, at the time just ran dry too covering them.

So I called it a draw. I had still 9 pbs left but WTH I was tired of the game. And the 4th round was a good ending.

Chim's Wedding

So Chim asked me if I can go to his wedding dinner, so I hopped in a car with Tim, Fang and Shin last night and drove to Ipoh.

My sis ask me to take some shots of Ipoh since her buddy mention what a sweet place it is. So here are the shots.

So at a rest stop I took a few pics. This is at the ass of the stop or kindly referred to as the rear. Around 3 something. Malaysian rainy season made the shots gloomy.

This is the front of the rest stop. As you notice, more hills and trees. Along the express ways you will see: trees, hills, tress, hills, hills being stripped, tress.

We stopped off to grab a bit of munchies around 4:30pm at 'suburb'. This shot is an example of the skyline. If you look at a Penang shot even there was not 5 storey buldings there be trees all over the place. As you can see cars but almost no people. At this stage you should find axes, parangs and guns because somewhere in the middle of town the zombies are gathering.

So we arrived at the restaurant around 6pm and as you can see still gloomy. I love Malaysia. Really. This is Ipoh town. The hub. The city centre. Stuff happens here. Honestly. I been told it does. That beigish bulding is the Hotel Excelsior. The restaurant we are eating is the seafood place near it (where I am taking the pics).

Well am getting a few emails nowadays about politics from my old buddy. Since information should be shared whether it be bad or good I thought I post up all the emails I get.

It is up to you to understand and gather more informtaion about where-ever read here. You are born with brains and the internet so use them both to formulate your own thoughts. Note: All names, email addresses have been removed.

Here is the email:

Kurma is an excellent Indian Muslim dish. The diference between a kurma and a curry is in the chilli.
A curry is reddish because it uses dried red chillies and also dried chilli powder. A kurma does not use dried red chillies or dry chilli powder. Instead a kurma is cooked with fresh green chillies. The taste
and the colour are therefore different. Both are excellent methods for
cooking poultry, mutton, beef, duck and even fish. Kimma is of course the Kongres Indian Muslim Malaysia, which is the 'mamak' version of the Kongres India Malaysia or Malaysian Indian Congress or MIC which itself is a namesake of the Congress Party of India. The MIC was founded by Mr John Thivy of Ipoh in the 1940s as the Malaysian chapter of Nehru's Congress Party of India.

It is really ignorant of the KIMMA members to claim that they are Malays when their party is still named after the Congress Party of India. This is a case of extremely serious mamak confusion. An Indian Muslim can be anyone of Indian ancestry who is a Muslim. Tamils, Keralas, Punjabis, Sindhis, Mahrattas, Hydrabadis etc are all Indian Muslims. But in Malaysia a large majority of Indian Muslims are Tamil speaking. Hence the term Indian Muslim is generally applied to the Tamil speaking Indian Muslims. In Malaysia, Indian Muslims are also known as mamaks, DKK (darah keturunan keling), Kelings and Jawi Peranakan. The last one Jawi Peranakan is a strange misnomer. There is even a recent book written about the Jawi Peranakan which actually talks about the Indian Muslims.

In contemporary Malaysia Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhari, Zainuddin Mydin, Siti Nurhaliza binti "Thaarudeen" , Justice Haidar Mohd Noor, Ahmad Nawab, Akbar Nawab, P Ramlee, Man Bhai, Tan Sri Elyas Omar, Tan Sri Ali Abul Hassan are all Indian Muslims or descended from Indian Muslims. Malaysia's first Speaker of Parliament Tan Sri CM Yusuf was a mamak. So was the permanent Chairman of UMNO Tan Sri Sulaiman "Ninam" Shah. 'Ninam' is actually truncated Tamil for 'Naina Mohamed'. Former Sabah Chief Minister Dato Harris Salleh and present Chief Minister Musa Aman are all mamaks. They are not Pushtuns, Pakistanis or Yemenis.

Among our Prime Ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the son of an Indian Muslim. Abdullah Badawi has mamak blood from his father's side. Toh Puan Sharifah Radziah Syed Alwi Barakbah, the wife of our first PM Tunku Abdul Rahman, had mamak ancestry. The Tunku himself was of mixed Thai and mamak parentage. Ex DPM Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim's father is a mamak. The intellectuals KassimAhmad and Farish Noor have Indian Muslim fathers while the late Tan Sri Muhammad Noordin Sopiee had a mamak grandfather. Munir Majid is a Tamil speaking mamak and Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor is a mamak too.

Here it is pertinent to note the "Syed" and "Sheikh" name. Among Indian Muslims the name Syed or Sheikh is common, its no big deal. The names "Shah" and "Khan" are also very common mamak names. Other 'Malay' names like 'Chik', 'Tamby Chik' and 'Keling' are definitely of mamak origins too. The name 'Shah' is not common among the Malays but strangely enough it is very common among the Malay sultans, for example Sultan Azlan Shah and Raja Nazrin Shah. Shah is NOT an Arabic name. It originates from Persia and comes to Malaysia from India through the Indian Muslim influence. This is just more indication of the mamak ancestry of our Malay rulers.

But among kampong Malays the name Syed and Sheikh are supposed to indicate Arab ancestry, the name Syed being associated with 'keturunan nabi' or lineage from the Prophet. To the kampong Malays these names are a really big deal. This is the furthest thing from the truth. Another common mamak name is 'Maricar'. Actually it is 'Marikiyaar' . This has evolved into 'Merican'. Hence the thousands of Malays who bear the 'Merican' name today are also of mamak ancestry. They call themselves Jawi Peranakan. They are actually mamak.

Many smart Indian Muslims realized very early on this Malay liking for Arabic names and Arab ancestry. So they started passing themselves off, (or did not object if they were referred to) as Arabs, usually of Yemeni descent. In Malaysia too many Syeds and Sheikhs from among the Malays today are actually recycled mamaks. One good example is Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhari. Among the Malayelite Tan Sri Syed Mukhtar Bukhari passes of as being of Yemeni descent. His family actually comes from India. The former mayor of KL Tan Sri Elyas Omar is also of Tamil mamak origins from Penang.

Among the Malays it is also 'ok' if a mamak is from Pakistani descent. Perhaps Pakistan is closer to Bollywood. So some clever mamaks claim to be from Pakistan. The former Sabah Chief Minister Harris Salleh and present Chief Minister Musa Aman are said to be 'of Pakistan origins' but in actual fact they are of Indian mamak ancestry, and usually Tamil speaking. Mamaks come in all colours and complexions from the dark skinned to the light skinned, green eyed and brown eyed types. A visit to the Masjid Kapitan Keling in Pitt Street in Penang or Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur on a Friday will witness all varieties of mamak.

The Indian Muslims in Malaysia today can be classified as follows :
1.Those mamaks who have inter married with Malays for generations and have actually become Malays. You can only know their mamak ancestry by their mamak sounding names like Merican, Shah, Syed, Sheikh etc, by heir 'Indian' appearances - prominent nose, rounder eyes etc.
2.Those mamaks who have not inter married with Malays but who have assimilated closely into the Malay culture. They can only speak Malay and have cut off almost all their links with India. These would include thousands of mamaks in Penang, Kedah, Melaka and other parts of the country. Only their DNA remains Indian. But practically, for all intents and purposes they are Malay.
3.Those mamaks who are still very much Tamil and who can only speak pasar Malay. They may not have links with India but they watch Tamil movies and do not read the Malay papers or know much about the Malays. Despite being born in Malaysia they still would not know a 'kuih talam' from an 'otak-otak'. Many KIMMA members fall in this category. That is why they still call themselves Kongres Indian Muslim Malaysia after the Indian Congress Party of Panditji Jawaharlal Nehru.
4.Those mamaks who are still very much Tamil and who cannot even speak pasar Malay despite being born in Malaysia. They will not know 'nasi lemak' from a hole in the ground. They will have strong family ties to India. They watch Tamil movies and know more about Tamil Nadu politics than Malaysia politics. They read Tamil Nesan and Malaysian Nanban religiously everyday to find out what is happening in Tamil Nadu and India.

Again many KIMMA members also fall into this category. Before 1970 the last two classes of Indian Muslims above (no.3 & 4) were usually overtly prejudiced against the Malays. Before 1970 many of them were not even citizens of the country. Their slang term for Malays was 'valayan-katti' . This is a term invented by Tamil estate workers but which became widely used by most Tamils including Indian Muslims to describe Malays. A 'valayan' means wire. 'Katti' means to tie something. So 'valayan-katti means 'a person who ties a wire'. What does this mean? In the early days of the rubber industry, the British tried to get the Malays to tap the rubber trees. However the native Malays had problems tapping the rubber tree in the proper manner and ended up injuring the tree, reducing the output of rubber. The British had better luck getting the trees properly tapped with the Tamils from India. Malays were then
delegated the simpler job of using wire (valayan) to tie (katti) the little latex cups to the rubber tree.

Hence the name 'valayan-katti'. Another Tamil term used for Malays is 'naattu kaaran' or 'naattan'
which means 'native'. Before 1970 the type 3 and 4 mamaks above and everyone else did not see much in the Malays. But post 1970 and the New Economic Policy the mamaks realized that they suddenly depended on the Malay for everything, especially the ever precious 'Entry Permit' to get Permanent Resident status in Malaysia. Until then few mamaks got married in Malaysia. They always went back to India to get married. After 1970 and the NEP, the trend disappeared in a hurry. The Malays refused to give Entry Permits for mamak brides and grooms from India. All of a sudden mamaks realized that they were short of wives and husbands. Hence the rate of inter marriage between mamaks and Malays increased tremendously after 1970.

After 38 years of the NEP, the mamaks are even more assimilated now through marriage than ever before. Today there is rarely a mamak family which does not have a Malay son or daughter in law. Post 1970, the mamaks realized that real political power and with it economic largesse had shifted to the Malays. But many mamaks included in class 1 and 2 above had no problem with this shift in power because often they were the ones holding high office. For example the first Speaker of Parliament CM Yusuf, a mamak, was his own power in his day. It was only the class 3 and 4 mamaks described above who were (and still are) slow in assimilating into becoming Malaysians. The KIMMA represents many of these people.

Hence the present scramble among them to be recognized as bumiputras, to get Malay classification in the Birth Certificate, BIN in the IC etc. But it is a fact that the Indian Muslims are heavily intermarried with Malays. This trend started over 600 years ago and continues until today. They and their offspring have played major roles in the history of this country. Sang Nila Utama, Parameswara, Tun Ali, Hang Kasthuri, Hang Tuah, Mani Purindan, Tun Teja, Abdullah Munshi and ALL the Malay Sultans are descended from Indian Muslims. The Perlis Royal family is almost certainly of mamak/Thai mix.

It is also true beyond any single doubt that from their earliest history here, the mamaks have had extreme affection which the Indian Muslims have had for the Malays throughout history. This could be attributed to the similarities in religion but there are also other Muslims in the country (including from India) like Pakistanis, Punjabi Muslims, Patans and also others like the Chinese Muslims.

Although the Indian Muslims are generally friendly with all races there is not as much intermarriage between Indian Muslims and other Muslims compared to the heavy intermixing and intermarriages between Indian Muslims and the Malays. And it is an established fact (evidenced by all the names mentioned above) that throughout history the Indian Muslims have always stepped forward to defend the rights of the Malays. In the process many of the Indian Muslims have lost their identity almost completely to the Malays.

Who are the descendants of the Tamil educated Munshi Abdullah today? No one knows. A DNA test will reveal Indian DNA among all our Malay rulers but which Sultan can or wants to retrace his Indian ancestry? These are the mamaks who assimilated into the Malay community from generations ago. Fast forward to today : in UMNO there are thousands of mamaks fighting for Malay rights. In PAS there are mamaks fighting for Islam (aka Malay) rights. PAS stalwart Hanipa Mydin is a pure mamak while Deputy MB of Kelantan Dato Husam Musa may have mamak blood. In the old Keadilan 'brother' Abdul Rahman Othman, another mamak tulen, became party secretary general and then quit later - to join PAS. In the Civil Service and in the Melayu korporat sector there are thousands of mamaks helping the NEP 'social engineering' come true.

In Penang pure Malays are a rarity. As late as the 80s, they could only be found in Sungai Ara, Balik Pulau and other places where there were no roads. In all other places in Penang, mamak blood is almost a certainty. Hence words like 'chacha' and 'nana' are a part of Penang Malay. In Kedah and Melaka the mamak 'penetration' of the Malay populace is much more earlier than in Penang. Which means the mamaks in Kedah and Melaka have diluted their DNA into the Malay population from much earlier (from Portugese, Dutch and British times). In short mamaks are a permanent feature of the Malay 'make up'. It is the karma of the mamaks that they have become kurma in Malaysia.

*Indian Muslims*

The largest Muslim country in the world is Indonesia and the second largest is not Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, or Pakistan. It is India. With some 150 million Muslims, India has more Muslims than Pakistan. But here is an interesting statistic from 9/11: There are no Indian Muslims that we know of in al-Qaeda and there are no Indian Muslims in America's Guantanamo Bay post-9/11 prison camp. And no Indian Muslims have been found fighting alongside the jihads in Iraq.

Why is that? Why do we not read about Indian Muslims, who are a minority in a vast Hindu-dominated land, blaming America for all their problems and wanting to fly airplanes into the Taj Mahal or the British embassy? Lord knows, Indian Muslims have their grievances about access to capital and political representation. And inter-religious violence has occasionally flared up in India, with disastrous consequences. I am certain that out of 150 million Muslims in India, a few will one day find their way to al-Qaeda ,before it can happen with some American Muslims, it can happen with Indian Muslims. But this is not the norm. Why?

The answer is context and in particular the secular, free-market,
democratic context of India, heavily influenced by a tradition of
nonviolence and Hindu tolerance. M. J. Akbar, the Muslim editor of the Asian Age, a national Indian English-language daily primarily funded by non-Muslim Indians, put it to me this way: "I'll give you a quiz question: Which is the only large Muslim community to enjoy sustained democracy for the last fifty years? The Muslims of India.

I am not going to exaggerate Muslim good fortune in India. There are
tensions, economic discrimination, and provocations, like the
destruction of the mosque at Ayodhya [by Hindu nationalists in 1992]. But the fact is, the Indian Constitution is secular and provides a real opportunity for economic advancement of any community that can offer talent. That's why a growing Muslim middle class here is moving up and generally doesn't manifest the strands of deep anger you find in many non-democratic Muslim states." Where Islam is embedded in

authoritarian societies, it tends to become the vehicle of angry protest Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan. But where Islam is embedded in a pluralistic democratic society Turkey or India, for instance those with a more progressive outlook have a chance to get a better hearing for their interpretation and a democratic forum where they can fight for
their ideas on a more equal footing. On November 15, 2003, the two
main synagogues of Istanbul were hit by some fringe suicide bombers.

I happened to be in Istanbul a few months later, when they were
reopened. Several things struck me. To begin with, the chief rabbi
appeared at the ceremony, hand in hand with the top Muslim cleric of
Istanbul and the local mayor, while crowds in the street threw red
carnations on them both. Second, the prime minister of Turkey,
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who comes from an Islamic party, paid a visit
to the chief rabbi in his office the first time a Turkish prime
minister had ever called on the chief rabbi. Lastly, the father of
one of the suicide bombers told the Turkish newspaper Zaman, "We
cannot understand why this child had done the thing he had done. ..
First let us meet with the chief rabbi of our Jewish brothers.
Let me hug him. Let me kiss his hands and flowing robe. Let me
apologize in the name of my son and offer my condolences for the
deaths . . . We will be damned if we do not reconcile with them."

Different context, different narrative, different imagination.

I am keenly aware of the imperfections of Indian democracy,
starting with the oppressive caste system. Nevertheless, to have
sustained a functioning democracy with all its flaws for more than
fifty years in a country of over one billion people, who speak
scores of different languages, is something of a miracle and a great
source of stability for the world. Two of India’s presidents have
been Muslims, and its current president, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, is
both a Muslim and the father of the Indian nuclear missile program.
While a Muslim woman sits on India's Supreme Court, no Muslim woman is allowed even to drive a car in Saudi Arabia. Indian Muslims, including women, have been governors of many Indian States and the wealthiest man in India today, high on the Forbes list of global billionaires, is an

Indian Muslim: Azim Premji, the chairman of Wipro, one of India's most important technology companies. I was in India shortly after the United States invaded Afghanistan in late 2001, when Indian television carried a debate between the country's leading female movie star and parliamentarian Shabana Azmi, a Muslim woman -- and the imam of New Delhi's biggest mosque. The imam had called on Indian Muslims to go to Afghanistan and join the jihad against America and Azmi ripped into him, live on Indian TV, basically telling the cleric to go take a hike. She told him to go to Kandahar and join the Taliban and leave the rest of India's Muslims alone. How did she get away with that? Easy. As a Muslim woman she lived in a context that empowered and protected her to speak her mind even to a leading cleric.

This is not all that complicated: Give young people a context where
they can translate a positive imagination into reality, give them a
context in which someone with a grievance can have it adjudicated in a court of law without having to bribe the judge with a goat, give
them a context in which they can pursue an entrepreneurial idea and
become the richest or the most creative or most respected people in
their own country, no matter what their background, give them a
context in which any complaint or idea can be published in the
newspaper, give them a context in which anyone can run for office
and guess what? They usually don't want to blow up the world. They
usually want to be part of it.

A South Asian Muslim friend of mine once told me this story: His
Indian Muslim family split in 1948, with half going to Pakistan and
half staying in Mumbai. When he got older, he asked his father one
day why the Indian half of the family seemed to be doing better than
the Pakistani half. His father said to him, "Son, when a Muslim
grows up in India and he sees a man living in a big mansion high on
a hill, he says, 'Father, one day I will be that man.' And when a Muslim grows up in Pakistan and sees a man living in a big mansion
high on a hill, he says, 'Father, one day I will kill that man.'"
When you have a pathway to be the Man or the Woman, you tend to
focus on the path and on achieving your dreams. When you have no
pathway, you tend to focus on your wrath and on nursing your memories.

India only twenty years ago, before the triple convergence, was
known as a country of snake charmers, poor people, and Mother
Teresa. Today its image has been recalibrated. Now it is also seen
as a country of brainy people and computer wizards. Atul Vashistha,
CEO of the outsourcing consulting firm NeoIT, often appears in the
American media to defend outsourcing. He told me this story: "One
day I had a problem with my HP printer the printing was very slow. I
was trying to figure out the problem. So I call HP tech support.

This guy answers and takes all my personal information down. From
his voice it is clear he is somewhere in India. So I start asking
where he is and how the weather is. We're having a nice chat. So
after he is helping me for about ten or fifteen minutes he says,
'Sir, do you mind if I say something to you?' I said, 'Sure.' I
figured he was going to tell me something else I was doing wrong
with my computer and was trying to be polite about it. And instead
he says, 'Sir, I was very proud to hear you on Voice of America. You
did a good job. ...' I had just been on a VOA show about the
backlash against globalization and outsourcing. I was one of three
invited guests. There was a union official, an economist, and
myself. I defended outsourcing and this guy heard it."

Remember: In the flat world you don't get just your humiliation
dished out to you fiber-optically. You also get your pride dished
out to you fiber-optically. An Indian help-line operator suddenly
knows, in real time, all about how one of his compatriots is
representing India half a world away, and it makes him feel better
about himself.

The French Revolution, the American Revolution, the Indian
democracy, and even e-bay are all based on social contracts whose
dominant feature is that authority comes from the bottom up, and
people can and do feel self-empowered to improve their lot. People
living in such contexts tend to spend their time focusing on what to
do next, not on whom to blame next.

So I was on my way to Komtar and arrived at 3:30pm or there abouts. I heard there may be a rally by Umno so I thought might as well bring my camera. Well it was semi worth it :P Here are the shots with commentary.

I just got off the bus and ran into a bunch of malays. I didn't realise these were the protesters.

3 minutes later this group of 30 people were gone. From what I heard from their conversations they were headed to the Jetty.

Was going to the front of Prangin before the police asked us to move back. Since, I didn't know the protesters already left I thought they still there was about to push into the area.

After a minute people started moving into the front of Prangin. I guess they thought it was safe. So I followed them.

Our boys in blue, here to keep the peace. Notice that they have their M16s in hand and not just the batons and riot shields.

"Pack it up boys, it time to go home." Actually they left that vehicle at the bus terminal with 5-6 guys until 6:40pm. I just it was a 'just in case' precaution.

Penangites lay back attitude. We pretty calm and non-violent people. Unlike some others.

A few people shout "Anwar" as the car drove past which resulted in the hand waving. I wonder who it was though, don't think he would be here. Hopefully, some recognises the licence plate.

Note about Rapid Bus, during the protesting they made sure those people that wanted to go to Komtar got to Komtar. They went down Pulau Tikus way before making a right into the Citi Bank area and went back up to get behind Prangin. They also allowed people to jump bus to another Rapid Bus that was going to the Jetty if they wanted to.

Prangin Mall locked all its doors to protect shoppers and workers that were inside in case the Protesters got unruly. Most of the shops closed down temporary and some even for the day.

A ghost town.

Some shop workers waiting for the lights to be turned back on. Just before 5pm the all the lights were on, all the shops were open and all the shoppers were back doing their thing. Also the bus terminals were also full of commuters and buses were operating like nothing happen.

Ramesh and Moggie can tell ya when watching Jumper I talked more than the main actor. That's probably true since the whole movies was juvenile and full of plot holes.

First, there is was no establish for the Paladines to kill any Jumpers although the dialogue indicated that Jumpers will 'go bad' after a time. There was not even a historical reference of one Jumper commiting murderous abuses with his power. Not even one reference.

But what really bugs me about Jumper is the use of their abilities. Bad guys show up, OK first time appearence. Don't know how to fight them. Next encounter should be with a gun. Pop in. Pop the mofo. Pop out. Jesus. WTF can be the problem with doing that? No, he is a good guy. Let's see, almost killed his dad, about to kill gf. And the only thing he did is teleport Sammy to the grand canyon. So he can come back later and finish off his dad and gf.

The Paladine Hunter is the most likeable person in the movie... at least he uses a lot of creative ways in an attempt to kill Sammy.

Verdict: Piss Poor Movie. Give me back my 2 hours.

After my long hiatus am back. Just watch Macross Frontier, all I gotta say fantastic, fucking animation for a TV series. Seriously, especially the 3D. If you watched a lot of anime with 3D in it you notice that the 3D and the 2D are awkward when edited togather. The anime following its own style while the 3D being stiff.

Well in Macross F, forget it. The 3D is so well down and storyboarded togather that the 2D style for the action flows right into the 3D animation.

Well, I can't really kiss ass until I see epi 2 and judge how consistant will the animation quality be.

But if you want to know the story then its a revamp of the original Macross but in the future following the backstory of the other Macross series. You got old (and I'll shall use the american names cuz am a bastard and will piss off a lot of real Macross fans) Ricky Hunter get his butt into a Veritech to save Minmay. The end credits reinforce with modernise versions (although a bit more sombre) of the good old classic: Do you remember love? (AI - OBOETE IMASU KA).

Macross F is considered the Official Sequel to the original Macross.

I wanted to see exactly how far can a file, torrented from scratch, will propagate. Of course what I did was remix a bit a fairy well known song from an Aussie group. Created the yesterday 10:34 GMT+8 15 Nov. Uploaded it sometime around 11pm - 1am to several torrent sites. I will seed it for 24hrs so around 12am 17 Nov am gonna stop and see just how many people download the song. How many people commented on whether they like it or not.

'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni' is total mind fuck. Based on a game it follows chapters of what happens when you screw up in the game. That is my theory since I have only watched up to epi 10 and 4 epis per chapter. Each chapter ends badly so I presume the last chapter is where you sovle the game correctly to have a 'happy' ending. The anime is really a blast and well subbed by both 'Ayu' and 'We are IN Denial - WIND'.

Watch it from the sheer creepiness factor and great story. Voice actors here really gave some of the best performances. Hahaha, if any girl in real talks to me like they do when the 'creep factor' is on I tell you this; I may not be able to sleep at night.

Update: I see there are 20 epis and from what it looks like 4 chapters to one of the 4 girls. Since I bet choosing any of the 4 girls to investigate leads to bad endings and horrible/sad background stories about them then the real culprit should be actually outsider of that circle of friends. The cop maybe? Since you do see him in everyone of the chapters so far. Or is it deeper than that.

VAIN Emergency System

So I was thinking of a good system that emergency services can use in times of natural disasters, fires, rescue, etc. called Video Audio Interface Network Emergency System.

Basically the hardware needed for this is:

Foldable 15-20 feet transmitting antenna.
Laptop for communications.
Handphones with extreme battery life and video recording.
Small 5-6 feet relay antennas that run a bateries.

How this is done is the team sets up a command centre with the large antenna and the laptop hooked up.

Every man has a handphone with a special sim card that can be switched to the VAIN cell network from the normal normal networks.

Once this is done emergency service member spread out to cover the location bringing along the relay antenna should the coverage of the main antenna not reach certain area. The relay antenna relay and boost the signels from the handphones.

With that emergency service members can give live visual and audio reports of the situation back to the command centre via the video recording feature of the handphone. This helps a in few ways: one, specialists in the command centre can give instructions to others in field concerning certain problems like poisonous gases, structual assessment, medical info, etc. Two, it allows specialists on the field to forwarded info needed by other members in other areas. Three, it can be used so that all members on the field can view and be updated live critical situations. Four, allows trapped civilians to be forwarded to a rescue member closest to them so that information can be shared in their rescue.

Basically, a scenario would like this. Person trapped in a building on fire calls for 911 for help. 911 forwards the call to the commander centre on the scene. After gathering details from the person including if possible visual information the command centre can use the relay aantennas to help triangulate the exact whereabouts of the caller. The caller can be forwarded to a rescue operative that is nearest to him or other operative incase the caller needs certain info like how to deal with medical problems or safest escape routes or even how to reach the nearest operative.

The relay antennas are meant to be disposable. But should be retrieved later either for spare parts or if in good condition, recharged and used later.

I was once known as Scorp76 in that server before they had starhub host it for them.

At that time I complete all the training expect that stupid, crawl on ur ass for 10 hrs SF training. Which made me sad since then i couldnt play on any SF maps. Then when i came to the Singapore Kaos server they had SF weapons on as a forced class. Cool that quenced my thirst for the M4A1. Then I notice that the Colt shakes quite a bit. I did some research and it confirms that without SF training using SF guns worsens ur aim.

By then I was on the server for 1 weeks every day. So i searched around for a hack to auto clear the SF training. I found out that glugbot has the most painless to use bot training command of all the hacks. So i used it. Cleared the training n even up my sniper score from 37 to 40. I uninstalled the glugbot n went back to the server. PB could not detect the current glugbot at the time. So i told Photomurray about it (at that time he was not a server admin). He was a bit disappointed that i used a cheat to complete the SF training but none the less life went on. Later, got to know God Above too.

Not long Photo was given admin privileges which soon after we go on TS together to help ghost against the other players in Urban Assault. Especially, against Milokaw. All through that time I urged them to install glugbot so they can see how it works n then identify other players that use it by the way they play.

Glugbot btw has wallhack, aimbot, nade distance indicator among other stuff. So basically, players that sit far back getting headshots with 1-2 bullets r suspect. Or players that stand behind a wall n move their rifle in such a way that they look like they r tracking another player.

Yes, Photo and God uses admin controlls to follow the opforce players they suspect of hacking through this method even though they did not bother to install glugbot to really see how a player that uses it behaves in game.

Now concerning Snake, at that time Snake used to pop up a lot in odd places in Urban killing n moving fast. This, recently when playing Boarder as it came out, i realised is the same tactic i use too. Which is rush the weakest line of the enemy, penetrate through, then raid them (attack from the rear as they advance they positions). Of course at that time i was only like honour 35 or somthing so i didnt know that. Basically, at one point i got frustrated and Photo and God got frustrated (we use slow advance, no covering of the rear n camp tactics which dont really work well in Urban against good players) so they said, 'do u think Snake is cheating?' I said, 'Hell yeah.' Then with that God said, 'then he is gone permanently from the server.'

Now God owns the server n runs from his house. And pays for being a honour server in AA. So basically, he could do whatever the hell he wants.

Fighting Co*k did try to appeal against the ban but he made sound like Snake was a whinning kid. So we laughed. Basically, i was in with the power group so i too abuse my standing with both admins against players that i thought hacked.

Later, I was offered admin position on the kaos server as u can see in this email here:

When you play you have a couple of options to do with players that are abusive, tk or in anyway destroy the game for others.

So let say you have found a player that is irritating and his name is godofson, you do this steps all in the console:

1: type pb_plist [brings up all connected players and their player slot. The player slot is the first number in a row.
2: type pb_kick # [the # represents the player number, take care you get right number otherwise wrong guy get kicked. Does happen..malu]

Alt to a kick if he comes back to disturb over and over:

pb_sv_ban # [the GUID of that player is kicked and banned forever]

If you made a mistake:

pb_sv_unban ********* [Unban the GUID you have banned by error. The ********* represent the name of the player]

If you have forgotten the name or it's spelling, you can tell me and I give you the last banned players and tell me who and I'll remove it manually in the .dat file.

Please do not abuse, since if they complain they come to me and I will be unable to explain unless you are on TS at the same time. But normally with any ban made by Murray I do not question why since I trust his judgement.
Also, he can reply in the forums if the banned d*** comes back. You can't since you are not registered there.

I was admin for about a month, i was even inform through TS since we talked mostly in there that if i thought Dawenzi or Milokaw were cheating to boot their asses from the server. I never abused this as i realise just how power crazy the Kaos clan is especially God n Photo. Only ppl i did finally boot r the ones that broke the no swearing rule after 3 warnings.

So i was admin for about a month then PB found one f***ing glugbot file that stayed in the system (an ini file named as glugbot, and yes i actually show it but since it didn't have the exe file for it i thought it really wouldnt be able to run at all or consider a threat but pb just picks up any files even if the all the important system files to run glugbot was removed) even though i uninstalled the program.

So i told them, 'yeah i did tell u had glugbot installed to complete SF training.' N they all go, 'yeah but no. But yeah but no.' N being abusive. Then i told them, 'If i was using glugbot i wont be letting that f***ing Milokaw n Dawenzi noob my ass like i was some 4th grade kid teething on a mouse.' (Well it was less colourful than that but u get the point.)

So I got MAC banned on the server. Only recently when i got a new mobo i decided to create a new account, glugbot train it to pass SF n play again.

And that is the whole sordid story.

Well the heatsink and fan on the Medion is crap. Barely hangs on. After a bios flash back to its real bios there was still artifacts on the screen. On the other hand the card are blazing hot. So I'm gonna ask the fella that borrowed my x700 heatsink to bring it back to me and we'll see if it is a heat prob or the card really has been fubar.

I just received this in the mail for RM25. Now the agreement I had with the buyer was if I could fix it for him he could not sell it and had to pay me back the money I paid plus postage cost. So the problem with this little fella is that it has artifacts already on Windows login. Declocking the bugger doesn't help so I figure since on the properties readout of the card is said 9800XT instead of Medion 9800xxl the previous owner may have tried to flash the bios to o/c the card.

Of course the main problem isn't whether I can fix it. It is if I do fix it should I keep to my agreement? Ahh let you know later.

It was a pitiful paper thin review that you can read in the toilet and wipe your ass later on it. The fact they only tested it with one game and did not mention the tactile response of the mouse's buttons or the gliding of the mouse's feet shows what a half assed team they got there. Luckily, I was more thorough in my review of the mouse for the NST.

I notice an interesting trick that backpackers like to use in Penang to get some spare cash. At first I didn't suspect this was a trick until yesterday I saw some backpacker looking forlorn next to the ATM of my bank. So I thought this looks familar. If he ask me for money after I draw out some I know it's a trick.

Sure enough he did. The trick works like this: the person will sit on his ass looking sad as hell until some goes to an ATM to draw out some cash. Then life strings into him as he quotes, "Could you spare some cash, a friend gave me this bank book but it is for this bank that's in Beach Street (25mins drive from where I am) and I was told that I could come here to draw out the money. But the bank here (RHB Bank) tells me I can only draw out money at the one in Beach Street (yeah faggot cuz they are different banks). Could you lend me RM20 so I can take a taxi back to Komtar and eat something. Then I can go tomorrow (Komtar is the bus centre, it has even a free shuttle service to cater the inner town area where that bank happens to be) to the bank and then I'll pay you back. Just tell me your phone number."

He will then introduce himself and ask your name blah blah. Of course being a Penangnite, to give money from our own wallets is to draw blood from a stone. But none the less I gave him RM10 which the grateful fella replies, "What? Only RM10? I need more than that." Well fuck me. Go and ask to wash the dishes for the hawkers. And don't tell you can't cause in Penang you can't walk more than 5 mins without passing 20 hawkers or 2 coffee shops. Anyway my friend, passes him another RM10 off we go with his parting words, "I'll pay you back when I see around here again.' Of course I replied to him, "I doubt it."

With RM10 you can eat a good meal for RM5-6 or go cheap like Chicken rice for RM3.5. Get a Milo or a Coke for RM1.5 and still get the bus to Komtar for RM1.2. Then walk your lazy ass to whatever hostel you need to go to. Or park yourself on the bus bench.

I was watching Opposite Sex recently, actually just before am writing this, after finish downloading the first 4 episodes. I mean this is a great series! I never seen a teen series with such strong acting and stories! Why Fox cancelled it is beyond me, perhaps its all too close to real life adventures of the kids. I bet Fox prefer soapy drama scripts than those showed in the show that actually have some sort of real life reference to the viewers. Anyway Milo Ventimiglia plays the hero Jed, really fantastic performance by him. Better than the Gilmore Girls performance he gave. Allison Mack was in it too, another great performance from her. There is a difference when you feel for the characters and when the characters become you. Allison and Milo really make their characters really become you.

This is a must see show but unfortunately it has been cancelled so the only way you are ever gonna get the 8 episodes of it is by downloading them.

Maria slowly over a period of time builds up her relationship with you from hanging out to friendly dates. Now you and her are about to go on your first serious date. Do you be fair break of your relationship with Jane and continue your's with Maria? Do you have both your cake and eat it? Or do you stop the relationship with Maria and leave it at friends?

Now the question is which is fair? Breaking up with Jane, which the both fell in love at sight with each other? Or with Maria who spend a lot of time and effort to get where she is in your relationship with you?

I figure most girls would say, "Be faithful you bastard!" And most guys would go, "Take them both, if one goes sour you still got the other."

Too many weird dreams.

This morning I had one of those I see dead people dreams. Though I can't go in the specifics of it but it had to do with foreseeing when my father will die. Anyway, the reason why I remember this dream is that two young girl ghosts inhabited my bed of my old house where I used to stay 6 years back. Now, I am a guy that hates kids, I hate kids cause they are immature lil brats that and I bust a ball everytime I see the buggers misbehave. But in this dream I found a welcoming, loving presence from the two girls. Half of the time I could see their transparent, ghostly bodies the other half I can't. They behave maturely and like children at time but also seek my attention in the dream. Either my playing poke and vanish games or by invisibly hugging me or sitting my lap. Funny thing is, I found kinda comforting to have them around me.

Either, I am starting to crave human company since I am sitting too long on this PC or my biological clock is ticking.

The Phone and I.

So there was I in my mom's car the other day and we were discussing the phone she bought with her voucher and some cash at her Cellphone Service Provider. Apparently, after a drop of sweat enter the phone it kinds short circuited and the phone manufacture's branch service center, that the Service Provider told her to go to, told her to repair will void the warrenty. WTF? But she sayz sure as long as the phone works again. A few days later it goes funny and she sends it back to the Service Provider asking for a replace and explains what the service center personal told her.

The provider, which is DIGI, a swiss company, will consider replacing it. After 2 weeks they tell her that they can refund the voucher but the balance of the cash maybe not. That is the voucher is points which is converted to money, depending on your phone talk time (how much your bill is) a certain number of points is awarded which is converted back to money to use at DIGI for paying future bills or buying stuff, etc. So her voucher was valued at 300 bucks, plus the 99 bucks balance for the phone she bought at DIGI.

So I told they are obliged to refund in full both voucher and cash. She goes to tell the points given are FOC and that she should be grateful that they even considered refunding it as it is a 'present' given for using the service normally. I go, no you dumb idiot, it is not. It is part of the service so that they can keep you as a customer and the fact the amount of money you pay for the monthly bill converts to a certain amount of points means that those total points in that voucher is your's which you have paid for. And the fact that you bought the phone at their branch and had to top up (commom place malaysia term for covering the balance due) with cash mean that service which is rendered (the phone) was paid by her. And since the phone failed to meet even a minium requirement of quality (the fucker crapped out 2 times in less than 5 days) they should honour their end of the rendered service and replace the phone even though the manufacturer of the phone voided the warrenty after repairing it the first time (this is Nokia and their Nokia 2100 phone). Even if they make a loss on that they should shallow the loss cause what's 399 bucks to a big company like that, right?

Jesus, she defends them like they were doing a favour in even considering refunding the voucher. I say, screw you and the horse you rode in. Thats, why I use prepaid. I don't have to pay a service fee of 30 bucks a months on top of any phone call charges I incur at the end of the month. Its 30 bucks for me till the month's end to use up or carry over with the next top up.

Small things like this, it is no wonder big companies are considered ass pirates to the common man.

Dream Talk or too much Sci Fi.

Early this morning while I was trying to sleep, I heard in my semi sleep state my father and sister mention that the cat didn't look well and might be in pain. After much gabbling like geese the morons say leave it to me when I wake up. I mean wtf, something that small and important as whether the cat is well or not they can't determine themselves? Freaking idiots, never be on your death bed with this family.

So about I think 20 minutes later, the cat (named Brat) jumps on my bed and nestles between my legs. She like sleep between my inner thighs and calf muscles, must be like firm pillows. Usually, she starts licking herself over before getting too comfortable but didn't which I thought was not normal.

So I fell back in dream state and had a weird dream, basically you can say I was playing a game of Paint Gun War but with laser laggign equipment. So in the dream one of my teammates even though I can't see her was Brat. Somewhere during the game ask her whats was wrong as she was moody in the game. In an aussie guy's voice she replied (remember I can't see her but know it's her for some reason) says something is stuck in her teeth.

So after that the dream I reckon went on for another 2 minutes and then the cat jumped off. At that point the dream ended but I didn't immediately wake up. I woke up about 2 hours after my father and sister's idiotic conversation on the cat's health.

So I went to touch the cat's jaw and lo and behold she growled at me. Long story short, pack up Brat in a basket, she cried all the way, took her to the vet, he said might have been an abcess that popped, so a jab of 72 hour antibiotics and off home she comes. Gotta monitor and she if she feels worse tomorrow or better.

Of course I wonder if she dream messaged her problem but then that's you to figure out yourself after reading this. BTW am off to buy a 4D number which happens to be cat.
